Terms of use of the software

  1. All software used on campus must be authentic products.
  2. Illegal software must not be used under any circumstances.
  3. Once licenses are obtained by our school, they may be used only on PCs for education/research and school administration that have been registered as school assets.

List of software holdings

Please find the information about the software supported by our school.

MS CA (Windows, Office, Visio PRO)

  1. In principle the product range of Microsoft Windows and Office suites shall only be used by faculty and staff within the campus network.
  2. If a student wants to use the S/W of the MS product range he/she must use the S/W installed in the PC lab. It is forbidden to arbitrarily install the S/W of the relevant product range in the personal PC and take it out.
  3. Windows is an upgrade license; it must not be installed (i.e., upgraded) unless Windows OS is included in purchasing a computer (desktop, laptop, etc.).
  4. If anyone violates it, he/she will be considered an illegal S/W user under Microsoft’s S/W License policy.

Hancom Office, V3, ALTools, SPSS, and ERP for administrative works

  1. It can be used from 2020, and the rest of the software can be downloaded except for the ERP designated for administrative works. The manufacturers of each product are as follows;

Guide to the PC management program (Net Helper)

  1. It must be installed on all PCs that have been listed as assets. (Currently, only the Windows OS series are available)
  2. Remote support service is available for problems that occur while using the PC.
  3. The procedure for reporting equipment failures in the classroom is simplified.
  4. Users may find the license status of programs installed on the PC they are using.
  5. The school’s public software may be downloaded.

Software access rights

Permissions to use

  1. Our school has signed a software use contract and provided support limited to campus assets.
  2. The use of personal computers is not allowed. And downloads are available only when a user on campus accesses the campus network (on-campus-issued IP).

Precautions for use

  1. Installation cannot be done on personal computers that are not on campus property.
  2. This S/W cannot be used in commercial facilities located on campus.
  3. Users and department heads shall take liability for using illegal software under Article 34 (Liability for Illegal Software), the Information Security and Information Asset Management Regulations.
  4. You cannot download S/W from an external IP other than the on-campus IP.
  5. Campus License Software refers to software approved for use only on campus for educational, research, and administrative purposes.
  6. Software download and installation are available via a dedicated program. If you have any inquiries, please get in touch with the management team’s PC maintenance office.

Guide to the Microsoft Windows License

  1. The Windows License held by our school is a license that will be upgraded to a higher version limited to computers with authentic Windows OS.
  2. If the Windows OS is not included in the purchase of computers, the license held by our school cannot be installed.
  3. If you purchase a computer, you must purchase one that includes an authentic Windows OS license.
  4. Those who have purchased non-Windows OS (e.g., Linux, etc.) models and FreeDos models cannot install Windows OS even if the use purpose is changed.
  5. Regarding OS, you cannot purchase OS separately without the PC’s main body.

General guide to software

  1. Licenses have various permissions to use according to the policies of the copyright holders. General classification according to use includes personal use, educational institution use, public office use, and corporate use.
  2. Classification of the scope of license usage includes commercial, freeware, shareware, bundles, and open source.
  3. When a university intends to purchase S/W for administrative or educational/research purposes, it must acquire an educational institution use or an equivalent license according to the policy of the copyright holder.
  4. If you have purchased S/W for personal use and use it on campus, you may be punished for violating the Copyright Act. Most freeware and shareware are specified for use by individual users only and cannot be used on campus without purchasing a license (Teamviewer, etc.).
  5. Regarding an open-source license, you shall not be restricted to use. However, you are obligated to disclose the source code if you are to distribute software using the source code (Linux, etc.).

Cases of copyright infringement

  1. If you use personal freeware at the university (NESPDF, TeamViewer, etc.)※You may use ALTools programs since the license has been acquired (ALTools, PDF, etc.).
  2. Violation of use of font files, clip art, etc.※ YD font (Yoonseoche by YOONDESIGN) and HY font (Hangyangseoche by Hanyang Information & Communications) are commercial fonts; you may not use them without purchase.
    ※For free distribution fonts, you must find out the scope of the license and use it within the acceptable range.
    ※Policies of some fonts may differ whether they are for publication or posting. You need to find out the type of license before using them.
  3. A continued use of programs of which the license was previously acquired but has become unavailable due to contract changes, etc.※The site license contract of Adobe’s all programs has expired, so they are unavailable to use (Acrobat, Photoshop, etc.).
    ※If you use Adobe programs without the administrator’s permission or continuously use the program before the contract is expired, you may be punished for violating the Copyright Act.

Rules of punishment for copyright infringement (Copyright Act)

  1. Imprisonment for not more than five years or a fine not exceeding 50 million won (reproduction, performance, public transmission, exhibition, distribution, rental, infringement of creation of derivative works)
  2. Imprisonment for not more than three years or a fine not exceeding 30 million won (in case of obtaining and using illegal software for business purposes)
  3. Joint penal for actors and institutions and claims for civil damages
